About This Tool
A watermark answers a question before anyone asks it: is this the final version, and am I allowed to pass it on? A diagonal DRAFT across every page stops a working copy being quoted as final, and a company logo makes an unauthorised copy obvious.
Add either text or an image. Text watermarks take any string, font size, colour and rotation angle - 45 degrees across the middle is the classic. Image watermarks accept a PNG with transparency, which is what you want for a logo.
Opacity is the setting that matters. Around 15 to 25 percent keeps the mark clearly visible while leaving the text underneath readable. You can also tile the mark across the page, or restrict it to specific pages so the cover stays clean.
How to Use
Open your PDF
Drop in the document you want to mark.
Choose text or image
Type the watermark text, or upload a PNG or JPG. Transparent PNGs work best for logos.
Position and fade it
Set rotation, position, size and opacity. The live preview shows exactly what lands on the page.
Pick pages and apply
Mark every page or a chosen range, then apply and download.
Use Cases
Marking a draft
A diagonal DRAFT at 20 percent opacity across a contract under negotiation, so no one signs the wrong version.
Branding a proposal
A faint logo in the corner of every page of a client deliverable.
Discouraging redistribution
Stamp the recipient name across a licensed report so a forwarded copy traces back.
Frequently Asked Questions
What opacity should I use?
Between 15 and 25 percent for most documents. Below 10 it disappears on screen; above 40 it starts to fight with the text underneath.
Can a watermark be removed later?
It is drawn into the page content, so it is not a layer that toggles off. Someone determined could still edit it out - a watermark deters casual reuse rather than enforcing anything.
Will it sit behind the text or on top?
You choose. Behind reads more cleanly; on top is harder to crop out of a screenshot.
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Enter a page range, which is how most people leave the cover and contents unmarked.
