A PPTX file only looks right on a machine with the same fonts, the same PowerPoint version and enough patience to wait for it to open. As a PDF it looks identical everywhere, opens instantly, and cannot be edited by the audience.
Each slide becomes one page at the presentation aspect ratio, whether that is 16:9 or 4:3. Layouts, theme fonts, images, charts and tables are preserved, and slide order is kept.
Animations and transitions do not survive, because a page cannot animate. Slides built around a build sequence will show their final state, so if the reveal matters, split the build across several slides before converting.

What happens to animations?
They are dropped and each slide shows its final state. Split build sequences across multiple slides first if the progression matters.
Are speaker notes included?
No, only the slides. Notes are not part of the slide surface being rendered.
Is the aspect ratio preserved?
Yes. 16:9 decks produce widescreen pages and 4:3 decks produce squarer ones, matching the presentation setup.
Do embedded videos convert?
The poster frame appears. PDF cannot play embedded video, so the media itself does not carry over.
