Printing a 200-page document to read once uses 200 sheets. At 2-up it uses 100, at 4-up it uses 50, and for a draft you are marking up rather than presenting, 4-up is usually perfectly legible.
This builds the imposed document for you rather than relying on a printer driver setting that behaves differently on every machine. Layouts from 2-up to 9-up are available, and you control margins and the spacing between the tiled pages.
Because the result is a normal PDF, it prints identically anywhere, can be shared, and can be checked on screen before a single sheet is used.

Which layout stays readable?
2-up keeps body text comfortable. 4-up is fine for most documents. 9-up is really a thumbnail overview rather than something to read.
Is the text still selectable?
Yes. Pages are scaled and placed as vector content, not rasterised.
How is this different from the printer 2-up setting?
This produces an actual PDF, so the result is identical on any printer and can be checked or shared beforehand.
Can I control the reading order?
Pages are placed left to right, top to bottom, which matches how the sheet reads.
