Spreadsheets print badly by default. A sheet 22 columns wide gets sliced into strips across six pages with no headers, in an order nobody can follow - which is why so many finance PDFs look like they were produced by accident.
The conversion respects the print setup stored in the workbook: print areas, page orientation, scaling and repeated header rows. Cell formatting, number formats, borders, merged cells and colours come through, and each worksheet starts on a new page.
Formulas are converted to their calculated values, which is normally what you want when sending figures out - the recipient sees the numbers without seeing how they were built.

How do I stop columns being cut off?
Use landscape orientation and enable fit to width. If the sheet is very wide, set a print area in Excel first.
Are formulas included?
Their results are. Formulas are evaluated to values, which is generally what you want in a distributed document.
Do charts convert?
Embedded charts are rendered as images in place, though very complex chart types may differ slightly from the Excel rendering.
Does each sheet start on a new page?
Yes, following the workbook print setup, including repeated header rows where they are configured.
