A Word document sent as a .docx is a document you have lost control of. It reflows when the recipient has different fonts, the page breaks land somewhere else, and anyone can edit it. PDF is what you send when the layout is part of the message.
The conversion here runs a real document engine compiled to WebAssembly, in your browser. Styles, headings, tables, images, headers and footers, footnotes and page breaks are laid out the way the document specifies, rather than approximated by a simplified parser.
Both DOCX and the older binary DOC format convert. Because it all runs locally, the contract or the salary letter you are converting never leaves your machine - which is not true of most online converters.

Will the layout match Word exactly?
Very closely. Differences show up mainly with unusual fonts that are not embedded, or very complex floating layouts, so a quick check of the page breaks is worth doing.

Are tracked changes and comments included?
They convert as they would print - accepted text appears, and comments come through only if the document is set to print markup. Accept or reject changes first for a clean result.
Does .doc work as well as .docx?
Yes, both are supported. The older binary format is occasionally less predictable with very old files.
