RTF is the format that was meant to move formatted text between incompatible word processors, so it turns up in legal templates, older case management systems and anything exported by software from the 1990s that is still in production.
It opens in most editors, but rendering varies and it is still an editable format. Converting to PDF fixes the appearance and makes the document safe to distribute.
Character and paragraph formatting, fonts, bold and italics, tables, lists, indentation and embedded images are all carried through and laid out onto real pages.

What about embedded images?

Are fonts embedded in the output?
Fonts available to the converter are embedded so the PDF renders consistently. Exotic fonts fall back to a close substitute.
