About This Tool

Extracting is the opposite of deleting. Instead of naming the pages you do not want, you name the ones you do - useful when you need five pages out of two hundred and counting the rest would be tedious.

Click page thumbnails to build a selection, or type a range if you already know the numbers. The pages come out in the order you selected them, so you can reorder while extracting: choosing 5, 2, 9 gives you a three-page file in exactly that sequence.

Your source file is never modified. Extraction reads it and writes a new document, so the original is still sitting there if you picked the wrong pages.

How to Use

  1. Open the PDF

Drop in the file. Every page appears as a numbered thumbnail.

  2. Pick your pages

Click thumbnails to select, or type ranges like 4-8, 15. Selected pages are highlighted with their position in the output.

  3. Choose one file or many

Combine the selection into a single PDF, or write each selected page to its own file.

  4. Extract and download

Save the result. Multiple files arrive as a ZIP.

Use Cases

Answering a records request

Someone asked for the pages mentioning their account. Extract those eleven pages and send nothing else.

Pulling a chapter for a class

Twenty pages out of a textbook scan, saved as a standalone handout.

Isolating the signature pages

Extract the executed pages of a contract to file with the registry, leaving the exhibits behind.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between this and Split PDF?

Split cuts a document into consecutive chunks. Extract picks arbitrary pages, in any order, into one new file. Use Extract when your selection is not a clean run of pages.

Does the original file change?

No. A new document is written and your source PDF is left exactly as it was.

Can I control the page order in the output?

Yes. Pages appear in the order you clicked them, so selecting 9, 3, 1 produces that sequence.

Are form fields and annotations carried over?

Annotations on the extracted pages come across. Form fields are copied, though a field that was part of a group spanning removed pages may lose its grouping.
